Install the Knovvy extension
Guide capture records real clicks across any tab, which needs a browser extension. Here is how to add it and connect it to your account.
Install it
Add it from the Chrome Web Store
Open the Knovvy: Capture listing and choose Add to Chrome. It is free, and it works in any Chromium browser: Chrome, Edge, Brave, or Arc.
Pin it to your toolbar
Click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar and pin Knovvy. The badge on the page gives you Finish and Pause, but the toolbar icon is your fallback if a page ever hides it.
Sign in on knovvy.app
Open knovvy.app in the same browser and sign in. The extension reads your session from that tab, so there is no separate login and no key to paste.

Guide capture runs in your browser. Add the free Chrome extension, click through your workflow, and the steps, screenshots and highlights are written for you.
Checking that it worked
Go to the capture page in the Knovvy app. If the extension is installed and signed in, you will see a Start guide capture button. If it is not, you get a plain message saying so with a link to install it, rather than a button that silently fails.
The extension says it installed but I do not see it
If you loaded an unpacked build rather than installing from the store, Chrome silently drops it unless Developer mode is turned on. Open chrome://extensions, switch on Developer mode in the top right, and load it again.
If you installed from the store and the icon is missing, it is almost certainly unpinned rather than uninstalled. Check the puzzle-piece menu.
What it asks for, and why
The extension requests access to all sites, which is a broad permission and worth understanding. It needs it because we cannot know in advance which internal tool you are documenting. Every listener is gated on an active capture session: until you press record, nothing is captured and nothing is sent. The full breakdown of each permission is on the security page.
