Privacy Policy
Last updated July 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Knovvy ("Knovvy", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to knovvy.app and the Knovvy applications and browser extension.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: your name and email address, and, if you sign in with Google or Slack, the basic profile information (name and email) those providers share.
- Content you create: screen recordings, screenshots, captions, transcripts, step-by-step guides, comments, and files you upload.
- Workspace and team data: workspaces, folders, memberships, roles, and sharing settings.
- Billing information: payments are processed by Stripe. We store your plan, seat count, and Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, but we do not store full card numbers.
- Usage and device data: basic analytics such as views of shared guides, and standard log data (for example IP address and browser type) used to operate and secure the service.
How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the service.
- Generate guides, transcripts, summaries, and other AI-assisted output from your recordings.
- Process payments and manage subscriptions and seats.
- Send transactional email such as invitations and sign-in links.
- Secure the service, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run Knovvy, and only as needed:
- Stripe, for payment processing.
- Resend, for transactional email delivery.
- Google and Slack, only if you choose to sign in with them.
- Anthropic, for AI features on paid plans; recording transcripts or content may be processed to generate summaries, chapters, and documents.
- Cloudflare, for hosting, content delivery, and object storage.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and our users.
Where your data is stored and how we protect it
- Content is private to your workspace by default; you choose when to publish a public link or share with specific people.
- Files and media are stored using Cloudflare R2 object storage.
- Audio transcription runs on infrastructure we operate rather than a third-party per-minute service.
- We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your choices and rights
- Access and export: you can export guides as PDF, HTML, or Markdown at any time.
- Update or delete: you can edit or delete your content, and you can request deletion of your account by contacting us.
- Sign-in: Knovvy is passwordless; you control access through Google, Slack, or email sign-in links.
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete content or your account, we remove it from active systems within a reasonable period, subject to legal and backup retention.
Cookies and local storage
Knovvy uses browser local storage to keep you signed in (a session token) and to remember preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Children
Knovvy is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
International users
Knovvy is operated from the United States. If you access it from elsewhere, you consent to the processing of your information in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
